Sad demise of Dr Kalindi Phadke
She fought to the very end…
- When the going gets tough, the tough gets going!

Dr Kalindi Phadke, founder member and Chairperson of MAI (Mission Arthritis India), and editor of the MAI Magazine once again proved the relevance of this age-old saying. MAI is a patient support group formed by the patients for patients with Rheumatic Musculoskeletal Disorders and is also a founder member of Bone & Joint Decade (BJD) India. Dr Kalindi Phadke, widely known as Kalindi Tai, a well-known researcher in the field of arthritis in animal models, breathed her last on Saturday, 26th July 08 in a private hospital in Pune. She was 67 years of age. A Rheumatoid arthritis patient herself, Dr Kalindi, not only fought the disease with immense courage and grit but also came out victorious setting example for others to follow. Dr Kalindi Phadke, a remarkable human being, dedicated to the cause of arthritis and full of life, endured several treatments for arthritis, hoped that cure would be found in her lifetime, and she held on to that hope until the end. She never gave in and actually inspired people to work towards a cure. The MAI Newsletters and the Annual MAI Magazines are evidences to her relentless and untiring hard work. Dr Phadke was passionate in bringing about getting arthritis research to patients who needed it most. Dr Phadke was well-known for her optimism and sense of humor.

Dr Kalindi Phakde was someone who was "passionate, compassionate, and wanting to make a difference," facing her disease with "remarkable inner strength." She lives on in MAI

We pray to almighty GOD to bless her soul in eternal peace and send our heartfelt condolences to her family.

Sincerely
Dr. Arvind Chopra
